Why pens aren’t provided at the conference any more…

It might sound strange, but we have found that when we order 35,000 pens in bulk, suppliers have proven unable to provide us with pens of a suitable quality. Year after year we noticed it becoming a little frustrating to conference attendees.

Last we were provided with pens that seemed to easily leak if they were chewed (lots of ink in mouths!)

The year before we were provided with pens that were hard to get working and took lots of scribbling.

The year before that we were provided with pens that were surprisingly wrapped in individual plastic wrap. This caused much mess and was terrible for the environment.

The year before that we were provided with pens that students could ‘click’ which meant that often the clicking seemed louder than the PA system.

None of these factors are written in the brochures that the pen suppliers give us!

Our best solution is to ask everyone to bring their own pen. Everyone gets to use a pen that they are happy with, and the environment is free from the wastage caused by pens of unpredictable quality!

Thanks for your understanding.
